IN THE WORD PROCESSOR NOW: How to be extraordinary!

gum-coverMy next nonfiction book.

What if you could, using the power of your mind, transform yourself from your current reality to one where you were...extraordinary

 Here is an excerpt:

Let me hasten to note that there is nothing wrong with being ordinary. It is perfectly acceptable to lead an ordinary life and many people die happy having done that. But this book is not for someone who is content with being ordinary. This book is for those who feel a restlessness, a longing, a desire to leave an imprint of some kind on the world, or even on the universe. It can even be a desire to experience something amazing or many amazing things.

There is a bit of danger in the pursuit of extraordinariness, though. Our modern society promotes and craves conformity and there is often strong social pressure to conform to societal norms. The man who wears a tailored suit and tie to a job interview as a financial analyst is much more likely to get the job than an equally qualified guy wearing a Hawaiian shirt and blue jeans. I wore just that outfit to my gym yesterday as a small nonconformity experiment, and as I happily rode seven miles on the stationary bike, I caught a few sidelong glances from people in their socially acceptable gym clothes.

We are a contradictory species, of course, and so we also revere the extraordinary: professional and Olympic athletes, entertainers of all sorts, astronauts, writers, artists, adventurers, scientists, businesspeople, and Cthulhu help us, even politicians. To join their number, you must look at that line in the sand (the one that marks the outer boundary of normalcy, of ordinariness, of safety, of conformity), take a deep breath, steel yourself and step across it, vowing silently to never look back.
