Ellie Morgan, a bold, skeptical 16-year-old, becomes curious about these unusual boons. She wonders about the perfectly circular tide pool in a rocky outcrop on the beach. At nightfall a whirlpool forms there, accompanied by colored mist and strange sounds. Her mother, a practical nurse, dismisses these anomalies and heads off to evening services at Our Lady of the Tides Church. And then one day Ellie notices a small patch of bluish scales growing on her arm. Can Ellie and her friends (who also discover scaly patches on their skin) uncover what’s going on in the town?
